SARS has officially announced the filing dates for the 2026 Tax Season. TaxClaw.AI can help you increase potential refunds when it's time to file your return.

Here are the critical deadlines you need to know to stay compliant:

  • Auto-Assessments (1 July – 12 July 2026): SARS will automatically assess taxpayers with straightforward tax affairs during this period. If you receive an auto-assessment, it is important to review it carefully to ensure that all income and deductions have been included correctly. Let us check it for you if that happens - sign up here for free!
  • Filing Season Opens (13 July 2026): This is when you can submit your returns (use us for this - register here for free!). You do not need to wait until then to get started; if you have all your tax certificates, you can begin preparing your return right now.
  • Non-Provisional Taxpayers Deadline (23 October 2026): This generally includes taxpayers who were not auto-assessed, or those who need to correct an auto-assessment and do not earn rental, freelance, or business income.
  • Provisional Taxpayers Deadline (22 January 2027): This includes anyone who earns income other than a salary, such as freelance, consulting, or rental income. Even if you qualified as a provisional taxpayer in a previous year, you should confirm your current status with SARS to avoid penalties.
